The Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) is a unit under the College of Arts and Sciences of the University of the Philippines Los Baños which consists of 28 faculty members and 6 administrative staff. The institute offers Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Doctor of Philosophy in Statistics. Building a strong foundation in statistics among its students, INSTAT is one of the institutions in the Philippines that produces statistical manpower in private and government agencies to date. Also, the Institute has successfully implemented research projects as well as training programs on upgrading skills and literacy over a wide spectrum of users of statistics here and abroad. Formerly in 2006, INSTAT was awarded by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) the Center for Development in the field of Statistics. Upholding its thrust in the field of statistics with its strong faculty development program in the recent years, INSTAT has been recently awarded the CHED Center of Excellence in Statistics.
