UPLB Statistics Alumni Homecoming: Recapturing Memories and Inspiring the Future

In a heartwarming celebration of shared history and enduring connections, INSTAT hosted a homecoming event for UPLB Statistics alumni and friends on November 25, 2023 at the Seniors’ Social Garden, UPLB. The activity created an atmosphere of nostalgia, camaraderie, and joy on the campus.

People who used to roam INSTAT’s rooms and corridors filled the place with smiles and stories. It was like stepping back in time, sharing laughs about classes, professors, and everything in between. The current faculty and staff welcomed everyone with open arms, showing how INSTAT keeps its family close, even after graduation.

The activity kicked off with a warm welcome from the current faculty and administration, emphasizing the institute’s commitment to fostering lifelong connections among its alumni. To break the ice, there were fun games like Human Bingo and Tumpakners. Then, Associate Professor Maria Dalisay G. Maligalig, PhD., chair of the CAS Alumni Relations Committee, was invited to share some thoughts on starting an Alumni Association.

One particularly heartwarming moment was the recognition of INSTAT’s past directors. Assistant Professor Roselle V. Collado (2004-2007), Prof. Zita VJ. Albacea, PhD. (2009-2011), and Prof. Consorcia E. Reaño (2011-2018) received warm applause as they were presented with plaques in recognition of their exemplary mentorship and invaluable contributions in shaping the success of INSTAT. Adjunct Professor Arturo Y. Pacificador, Jr., PhD. (1998-2001) and Prof. Emeterio S. Solivas, PhD. (†) (2001-2004 and 2007-2009) were also recognized during the awarding.

As the celebration concluded, there was a strong sense of gratitude and fulfillment among the alumni. Many expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to reconnect with their roots and witness the growth and progress of the institute. “The alumni homecoming is a cherished tradition that allows us to celebrate the achievements of our graduates and strengthen the bonds of our UPLB family,” said Associate Professor and Director Liza N. Comia PhD. “Seeing our alumni return with such enthusiasm is a testament to the enduring spirit of our institute.”

The alumni homecoming was a reminder of shared journeys, a celebration of achievements, and a promise of a brighter future for the UPLB Statistics community.
